Laura joined the Tawfik Lab as a visiting scholar from Belgium in September 2023. She was awarded a fellowship by the Belgian American Educational Foundation for the academic year 2023-2024 to conduct research at Stanford. Laura has a background in medicine and plans to continue her medical studies at KU Leuven upon her return. Her research interest lies in the neuroimmunology of chronic pain, and she aims to establish a solid scientific foundation in pain medicine during her time at the Tawfik Lab.
